LAST POST WAS "NO STRESS" OF 11-11-07.
I'm not really going to comment on the following. I think it pretty much speaks for itself. This is copied from the News Notes, a weekly work publication. It may help to know that we mostly work a 9/80 shift (9 hour days Monday through Thursday, and an 8 hour day every other Friday), but there are also some 12-hour rotating shifts. Note that vacation and holiday time are given in 1-hour increments, even for exempt (i.e., "professional") employees, but for those on a 9/80 shift must be used in whole or half-day increments except that a single vacation hour must be used for each holiday that falls on a 9-hour workday.
2007 Holiday Shutdown Reminder
As a reminder to all employees, on December 24-28, 2007, NRF will be having a planned Holiday Shutdown. Each employee has the responsibility to ensure that a sufficient amount of vacation and/or floating holiday time is saved to cover the time that they will be off. It will be necessary for all employees to save at least 20 hours of vacation and/or floating holiday to cover December 24-27. Employees who do not have a scheduled day off for Friday, December 28, (for example, those on the Gold schedule) will need to save an additional 8 hours to cover that day.
As previously announced, exempt employees can save Compensatory Time acquired throughout the year and use it during the shutdown in whole day increments, taken in no less than eight (8), nine (9), or twelve (12) hour increments. Partial day absences are not permitted. For example, 8 hours of CompTime must be used for an 8-hour day; 9 hours of CompTime must be used for a 9-hour day. Keep in mind, however, that this accumulated CompTime cannot be used and saved on Monday, December 31, 2007, as this is not part of the shutdown. Any Compensatory Time an exempt employee earned during November or December 2007, can be used on December 31, 2007; this conforms to HR Policy, which states that CompTime must be used by the month following the month it was worked.
[ . . . ] Monday, December 31, 2007, is not a company holiday, nor is it considered part of the holiday shutdown. If you choose to take this day off you will be required to use vacation and/or floating holiday hours totaling 9 hours.
